When constructing the neck and shoulder region of a Hamatta do I construct wedges at 90deg angle to the primary weave of the shirt for the beginnings of "short sleeves" similar to:
[url:3991w209]http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Cavern/4200/hauberk.html
OR do I simply continue with the primary pattern up over my shoulders, leaving a hole for my head?
I'm working on my first hammata, republican style. I was planning on constructing it based from several Hauberk patterns I had found on line, just minus the sleeves. As I have completed the square of the collar I realized that I don't see the same "technique" in any of the pictures I find on line for hamattas. Thanks for your time.

Neuraleanus,
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I was unable to log in for several weeks. Thank you for the reply, I have since modified my Hamata and am continuing on with it. You patern and how to was a great help.

Gaius Marius Cingetorix, what's the evidence of that mail pattern?

I setup a HTML version:
[url:1j96qj3w]http://66.66.131.145/roman/RivetedMaille/MakingRomanLikeRivetedMaille.html
The download may be a tad slow as I'm running my own web server. For some reason Yahoo is not letting me upload a new word version of this doc to the legio 30, cohort II site.
By the way, I've put the Robert Norton Guides to making Hamata here for everyone to download:
