As of 18 Feb 01, we surpassed the 1000-hit mark at www.RomanArmy.com .
 
I have just finished submitting RomanArmy.com to all major (free) search engines. Once we are spidered, the hit tally should really jump and we'll presumably begin to see more board traffic as well. 
 
My next effort in the promotion arena is to submit Roman Army Talk to all the search engines, and that'll help bring in new visitors from a different direction. 
 
We'll also have a small bit of publicity in the newsletter of the Society for Ancient Military Historians, which will come out in May. This goes to scholars and re-enactors worldwide, and may help us draw in more researchers to contribute written material. 
 
I'm really pleased that we've come so far so fast, and your part in this project has made it possible. Thanks for your support! Please continue to spread the word.

Within a few days RomanArmy.com will surpass the 3000 hit mark, which is terrific considering we've only been spidered by one search engine so far. Much of the traffic has come from word of mouth and so thank you for your support! 
 
RomanArmy.com now has a committed staff of 3 Editors, and as the word gets out, I expect the staff to grow further and then the site to blossom with new material and contributions. As a collaborative research site, RomanArmy.com cannot expand without the input of many. Continue to spread the word and encourage knowledgeable amateurs and scholars to join the research team.

Excellent work, I think you have an impressive looking board. We just reached the 1500 mark at our board and I was happy as well. My next goal is 5000. It will take a while but it the words of the Ancient Romans 'what is time!'. 
 
I was a big Ancient History fan many years ago at school and university but haven't really got into it of late. I was more interested in the social life of the people, their customs, traditions, Gods etc than in their battles. I thought I would just pop in though to say well done!

10,000 hits on RomanArmy.com and going strong! Thanks for all your support at RAT, and I encourage the willing and able amongst us to generate more material for RomanArmy.com so we can improve on the still pretty empty framework. It's a collective effort! Thanks everyone--

Our hit counts per day have increased greatly since the last update. We now average 500+ visits daily. Multiplied by 30, that means over 15,000 hits monthly. Not bad for a specialist history board like ours! Congratulations everyone. 
 
Since our inception in January we have accumulated about 75,000 hits and over 3200 posts.

Roman Army Talk now has hit a major milestone: 
 
 100,000 hits! 
 
It's entirely due to our loyal members -- thanks all! Can you believe we've posted here more than 4,800 times? 
 
Daily hits average 600-800, with several days in the past month topping 1000. The board is extremely healthy with several vocal new members and many, many lurkers. (Come out of the closet, you all! E EM )

I see that the number of registered writers has risen to over 170! When I first started reading and then writing about a year ago (maybe slightly more) I seem to remember the number at about 30-40. Hence there has been quite an increase. It would be interesting to know the absolute number of new (or total) registered writers per month? Can you reconstruct and keep track of that information? More interesting would be the number of "active" writers, for example people that wrote something in the 4-week time interval immediately before a certain census (data point).
