Roma Victor
#1
Hi all,

I am new here, and mainly signed up because I am extremely interested in ancient historical warfare. I searched for an introduction thread, as I did not want my first post to advertise another site, but to no avail.

Anyways, here is a game in its fifth or sixth year of development, and which is currently in beta. It is scheduled for release in April, as a MMORPG set near Hadrian's Wall. The land is full scale, and the developers have a good attitude about community. They have quite a large number of roman "fans" which is why I learned what I know about Roman military.

Its name is Roma Victor, and it is quite fun to even participate on the forums.

Thanks for reading my topic and I hope I will see you all around these boards a lot more.

EDIT: Found the introduction thread.Smile

Great images! But You should correct the name... In latin, ROMA is femenine and so must be her adjective: VICTRIX.

Sorry for being too fussy.

No, no quite alright. We have already had that discussion, but I'm sure you all know that names sell and history doesn't, I mean we have all seen the movie Gladiator.

This game seems to be hopful.
I used to be one of the moderator of the french fan site.
But the subscribtion is really worrying me.
You dont have a standard subscibtion you pay every month, but you buy virtual money with really money. Confusedhock:

I don't really like the subscription arguement, because I am almost positive I cannot convince you if your mind is set but here are some things that RedBedlam(developers) are putting in place to act as barriers for over-use of the buying in-game money:

Constantly Changing Money Rate
Limit To Amount Per Month Available Per Character
Any Character Can Be Killed At Any Time, And Lose All Their Money

Just in case you are the only one who has a changeable opinion, there you go.Smile But I doubt it because...well I mine don't change either.

Hello Matthius!.

Quote:Constantly Changing Money Rate
So for one month i will be able able to buy 100 secterces for 10Euros and the other 50 sectereces for 10Euros?
I'm not sure the situation fore RedBedlam will suitable and for the consumers.

Quote:Limit To Amount Per Month Available Per Character
But what will be this limit?

Quote:Any Character Can Be Killed At Any Time, And Lose All Their Money
All the money?
Well i don't like this idea...

So to sum-up my opinion about subscription.
In almost mmorpg, all players are equal, we don't care if in real life we are rich or not, the difference is: how long can we play in this game.
But in RV, if you own a platinium credit card, you can spend a lot of money in the game, wich is not the case of many people.

Moreover, this payment system can unbalance the realistic economy of the game cause of people who will get this money from "nowhere".

But anyway, i m impatient to play this game Big Grin

I understand your points but I believe this money purchasing idea is to combat the power gamers who have time to spend. It is the direct relation of time versus money, so it depends on which you'd like to spend.Smile

Don't think i'm talking with perversity(i really want to play this game). But, in RV, if you don't use your skills enough (which means, if you don't play enough), these skills will decline...

This is of course in no way a publicity stunt to get their ungrammatical game in the papers, so ignore the PR details, they're really not there. Is fun though...
