Just what is a 'Miles Gregarius'? Whenever I see it, I get a mental image of an overly sociable ape-man.

Edited by: Hartless Wench at: 11/2/04 9:17 am

Miles Gregarius = common soldier. Gregarius derives from ex gregale, from the herd. So maybe you were not far off.
Greets
a decurio is a cavalry-officer. He commanded 10 to 30 men in the cavalry-unit of a legion.
-------------------------------------------------------
