New Romanarmy.com design
#16
I like the latest design (viewed 1/26/05). I will say that one thing the current banner does is show just how varied the Roman Army really was - not just the segmentata-wearing 1st and 2nd Century AD legionaries.

But, that said, I really do like this latest design. The background is much easier on the eyes than the current colored background. Will Roman Army Talk change in appearance as well?
Improved how?
Well, personally I'm not fond of scrolling, so a banner half the size would be right I'd say.
Also, instead of the grey spaces, make more use of the spaces to the left and right (after all, we're all going to have an 600x800 screen (or bigger) in the near future).
I like the color scheme very much, somehow the dark background of RA.com and RAT is more tiring.
My two cents.
Valete,
It's too pale. It looks anemic. The picture on top is not contrasted enough and it's again the often used Trajan Column shot. Isn't there any good photograph of reenactors? Methinks it would be more appealing to newbies.
Also, I'd like to see more roman red in there.
Actually this one red up there is not dark enough but you get the idea.

Edited by: Antoninus Lucretius at: 1/27/05 5:11 pm

Sure. Plenty of photos of reenactors in my collection. Bear in mind though that Romanarmy.com is no reenactor site. And Roman red?

Anyway, good to see we're getting some feedback. Thanks guys!
Greets
I think this latest one is the best so far. As you say, Romanarmy.com is not a re-enactment site so the picture of a piece of Trajan's column alongside what could be taken as a reconstruction of a similar scene gives it a look which I think would suit an interested amateur as well as a re-enactor. In short, I think it is neutral in content, and colourful enough to be satisfactory without being too garish. Well done.
There's a quickreply button next to the Postreply button at the bottom of the screen.

No, they both do. It's just faster because the Reply screen appears on the same page.
