P.S. This is performance of Luis Paniagua - he is former participant of Atrium Musicae De Madrid and he is one of the musicians who made historical record of Ancient Greek music back in 1977.
He performed a kind of New Age music - but with a kind of the pseudo-Antique lyre. Still the spirit of his music could remind you of something:

Very nice. They only need to put out some sounds files on the net so we can hear how the instruments sounds!

(ok, not from the pan pipes. I hate those, after the tender mercies of, at a multiperiod historical festival, having a south american pan pipe band mutilate every song in existence for eight hours a day, five days running) Big Grin

You could see videos of performances of Kerylos Ensemble with Annie Belis - record was impressive but live performance sounds dry:

Did anybody hear this CD? :

http://www.funprox.com/index.php/webzin ... struments/

Are there something "Ancient Greek" eccept for the instruments?
Reply
Yes, I did.

Spyros and Evi of Daemonia Nymphe visited me two weeks ago for one week and we also recorded something together. ;-) )

The CD does not contain any original pieces but some very nice atmospheric pieces that show a lot of possible techniques and sounds of ancient instruments. The singing is very wired and really good.

The CD is not the copy of the copy of...but rather something complete new in basis and kind of presenting. I needed some time to listen, but now I really
like it. The instrument-reconstructions though are good.

Just sitting on the last layout of the booklet.
"Pugnate", German version will be released on 27th August 2008,
English version little later, French version is planned.

Glad to hear you, Susanna! Thank you for the answer.
Waiting for your new album Big Grin
Besides the instruments on the record by Spyros - are there something connected with the ancient music (tonality etc.) - or this is (I get your idea that the music itself is fine and the record is worth listening) "fantasy" music?

Hi all,

Maybe it's not genuine ancient greek music but I think it's interesting too: Divna Ljubojevic, singer of ancient byzantines chants.

To me, Ancient Greece is not only IV- V b.C. centuries but also all the eastern lands influenced by Christianity in the following stages.
