i'm working on my shield design but haveing troubles templating wings that i like. anyone wanna post theres ?

this is what i've come up with so far. the wings only have 1 coat of paint, the rest have 3. whatya think so far?

I saw your query when posted but hadn't gotten
far enough on my scutum to give any advice.
I thought you were probably aware of Matt Amt's
templates already but ,yes, his are very good(thanks Peroni).

As far as your own design I think it looks great.
Please show us how it comes out.

Our unit has a similar design to the one you are painting. It was taken from the grave stele of Aquilifer Gnaeus Musius of LEG XIIII G M V

well, heres what i have. i dont have a steady enough of a hand tonight to do the feathers on teh wings or the legion name. also included a url to a picture of the other 2 shields i've made.

Those are really great Chuck, though myself personally I'd have painted the lightning bolts white. 8)

I got my design from Trajan's Column.

Also, are you going to put a rim on your shield?

dunno. i made the canvas roll over to the back. you almost cant see where it ends and the back braceing starts. we'll see what the future holds
