High-time for another newsletter and there's much to tell!
1: Avatars, please consider using your own artwork or - tada! - a photo of your own mug as avatar. We will be phasing out the current series of hosted avatars as they are scanned from books. Go here to change your avatar. It may be uploaded to RAT, so hosting is no problem
2: Real names, a reminder for members who ignore this board rule. Please use your real (first) name in your signature! Moderator (and my) patience is wearing thin in some cases.
3: DigestsNo time to visit RAT daily? Consider having RAT sent to you by daily, weekly or even montly digest. Go here to enable this service.
4: Armae offer, European reenactment supplier Armae as of now offers their entire Greek and Roman range at a 20% discount to RAT members. Simply mention your RAT-username with your order to use this discount.
5: B&C2 bookplate auction. Mike Bishop and Jon Coulston's Roman Military Equipment has been published in a second edition! Thanks to their generosity, we have been able to auction off a bookplate with their signatures. It has been won by Sassanid (Andrew) who posted a very generous offer. Thanks all!
6: Chat, RAT now has a chatbox built into it which is only accessible to registered RAT-members. Extra 'chatrooms' will be made available on request.
7: Romanarmy.com Projects. Romanarmy.com will soon be extended with two new databases, one with helmets, courtesy of Dr.Mike Thomas, the other with diplomas, thanks to the hard work of Jim (Spedius). Thanks guys! We are also looking for translators and proofreaders and a willing coordinator to get the Ritterling project underway again. We're at 1/3rd now, but there's still much to do and many legions to go!
8: Deepeeka Imperial Gallic G, you kept on reading? Good, cause here's the reward. Deepeeka have upgraded their Imperial Gallic G helmet with the help of RAT members and Armae especially. As a 'thank you' they have given a free helmet to Armae and are offering 5 helmets to RAT members at the very reduced price of $125 including shipping!
Now to ensure that everyone has a fair chance of getting one of these five helmets, we'll instate the following procedure. This Sunday at 10.00PM GMT (that's 5PM EST, 11.00PM Amsterdam) I will start a new thread in the RAT marketplace titled Deepeeka Imperial Gallic G. The first five members to put a message in that thread claiming a helmet, will get one.
Remember, if you claimed it, you bought it!
