Hi All , My Gladiator Group are looking for some Atmospheric Music to play as we enter the Arena , Doe's anyone have ant Idea's on what kind of music ? Rather Stumped at the moment .

There's a fantastic CD called Music of Upper & Lower Egypt [LIVE], recorded by Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead during his travels. Reviewed on Amazon:

If you have an interest in historical and cultural music, especially that of Africa buy this CD. It may very well represent the closest music to that of ancient Egypt outside of the Copts. However, if you are looking for belly dance music, you may be somewhat disappointed. I just wish I could find more music from around the Sudan...

One track should have the crowd nodding and clapping, called Nugumi. And as it's Egyptian it definitely has a link with Rome in at least a roundabout way. See if you can find a sample on the internet.

* Synaulia (also used by Marcus Junkelmann at his gladiator shows, I guess Martin could tell us more about that *wink*)

Thanks for the Info , If Synaulia is used by Marcus Junkelmann and its good enough for him them its good enough for me .
Only Problem is that the site is in Italian and Guess what ? I dont read or speak Italian so I dont know how much it is or how to order it But I'll manage some how .

By the way, we also play for Junkelmann...for example in Xanten in the Archaeological Park (but I do not know if that is a musically reference).

Depends how authentic you want it!?

Normally cornu (g-formed horn), tuba (fanfare horn) and hydraulis (water organ), tibia
(double-reed pipe) and utricularium (roman form of a bagpipe) was played.
So...if you find a good cornu-player and a best also a drummer...you can have somehhing "live".
