World Cup
#46
And and Italian World Champion title would make up for the disappointing '94 game that ended up with free kicks with Brazil. What a sucky way to end a World Cup.

Does this surprise anyone? Two Korean players are called Kim and five are called Lee. During the match, one Lee was replaced by a Kim and one Cho by a Lee.

Uhm, it didn't really need enormous powers of prediction to get the winner and loser of that match correct.

I wasn't flaunting my prognostication Jasper, I was justifiying my support for England even though I'm a yank.

Like I said, Americans like winners, and supporting America is purely a pity vote at this point.

I was just been silly Travis. You would be amazed at the number of football pools going around here where people try to predict the result of every match.

I'm a augur.

I predict Spain is going to loose tonight.

Interesting how all the Dutch coaches have either won (Netherlands, Australia, South Corea) or tied (Trinidad & Tobago).

Well, at least they're unbeaten...

Yes, I hope Ukraine wins ... first World Cup match, first victory Smile

Spain isn't bad, it's just they missing something to give them a big chance.

Oh I know. Notice my smiley!

But I imagine if they did pools on whether the US team was going to win, the odds would be .0000001 to 1.

Update:

Let it be known that in all other things I am true red white and blue American, but my ancestors came from liverpool so I have to go with my ancestors on this one.

And Tunisia.... but I am happy if any team from the Empire wins, even better if a Liverpool player scores or plays well! Big Grin

Naw don't kid yourself. All of those are blue white and red. "Red white and blue" is a registered trademark of USA Inc. along with Hot dogs, French Fries, Freedom, cold drinks, pizza and tacos, Justice, all the good stuff. We own it. If we like it, it's ours and we invented it.

Empire!! Confusedhock: Good golly! We are having a real anglosphere moment here aren't we!!

God Save the Queen!!

BTW - Actually this is a question I've wanted to have answered for a long time. The London Philaharmonic came here to play. They started graciously with the Star-spangled banner and after the performance ended with "Rule Britannia" and "God Save the Queen" and one other song I had never heard before about making Jerusalem on England's shore. It was great, It was like suddenly being transported back to Edwardian England. Apparently this is traditional.

Graham, Do you know the title of the third song?

Ok, one last "empire" story. We had a potluck luncheon at the dept. to welcome new faculty members to the College of Arts and Sciences. The idea was to bring a food from your ethnic homeland. A Pakastani new faculty member brought cucumber sandwiches and tea cakes!! The Empire will never die! Big Grin

Cheers!
