Seven Samurai -- The Remake (Yet another remake with a Chinese actress in a leading role -- no details yet.)
DAME DA YO!!! (Japanese for very bad!!)
why again a Chinese lead........ Japanese women are far nicer to see, and historically more correct too!!!!!!
anyway....
it would be very nice if the Vatican would start making its own films.....
made in: HOLY WOOD

Hahahahaha...exactly Paul...and throw in a few classic 80's action film lines such as "I eat green berrets for breakfast, and I'm VERY HUNGRY!" or "Remember when I told you I'd kill you last Sully? I lied."

Martin,
Yes I was lucky. I saw a documentary about Alarich and guess what: the Romans did not wear Imperial gallic or segmentata and probably they had enlisted the help of Late Roman reenctors because the equipment looked late roman-well most of it.
I know the feeling though. Alexander the Great with the helmet of Achiles from the movie TROY hock: hock: hock: hock:
I had the misfortune also to see the Vikings that you mention.
Well, they try to be impartial. They "abuse" all culturs history equally
Kind regards

Magnus - Are you sure it's not Violent Nudity you're looking for?
I think now, the real problem with Hollywood is they've run out of Original Ideas and Plot Lines...Everything has been "done", so all they have left to do is to re-hash and re-do and re-make, sequelize, prequelize everything that's been a smash hit beforehand. (afterall, it worked SO well last time, if we repackage it, it's a garuntee for success, right??)
Like going to your favorite deli to get your favorite sammich...Why is it your favorite place and sammich? Why do you get it time and time again? because you LOVE it and want to re-experience it all over again....And if it tastes as good as the first one, that's excellent, but if it isn't AS good as the first/as you remember, but still "good", well, chances are you still go back and eat the same thing.
I give No credit to Hollywood, however, for being the marketing force they are...Oh who am I kidding...I'm hungry for a sammich!
I still think of the Monty Python - Flying Circus skit with the Big Wig Hollywood Producer in the Board Meeting (I'm paraphrasing here)
Producer: "I see....Snow!"
Yes-Man: "OOOH! Think of the COLORS!"
Prod. "And a forest...And in this forest...A Tree!...And a little dog comes up to the tree....And he piddles on it!"
Yes-Man "Oh, Wonderful!, Genius!"

I don't actually have a problem with remakes as long as something new about it is brought to the table. 'The Thing', 'Assault on Precinct 13', 'The Italian Job', amongst others, were all excellent remakes and gave me some of my fave older films a modern uplift. I also enjoyed all of the Japanese horror remakes into english ('Ring', 'The Grudge', etc). They can also be terrible, but I don't have a serious problem with it. I still think the original Kong is the best, though.
Don't forget the Heston 'Ben Hur' was a remake in a way, as was 'Gladiator'.

Of what is "Ben Hur" with Charlton Heston a remake? I thought it's the original after the novel.

Nope, there's a 1920s movie and I think even a 1910s too.
