I found some photos of these guys on Iosephus's group site....!
I think Kassai Lajos is in there somewhere..
It seems they also portray Scythians and Avars on horseback..... :wink:

Arthes, I mentioned already in another topic: that homepage from where you got the links is not our group's (no offense, just to clarify things :wink: )
And no, the links you provided are not of Kassai.
The Csallóközi LovasÃjászok (mounted archers of Csallóköz) are a Hungarian group located in South-Slovakia near the Hungarian border.
But if you are interested in Hungarian horse archery than here you go:

However, except Kelemen Zsolt, all of them make all kinds of reflex bows for sale. Not just the hungarian type, but mongol, schythian, avar etc. bows. I think that confused you.
Sidenote: I always found it somehow funny, when I see roman archers equipped with bows made by Grózer or Kassai.
But of course I'm proud as well...

Apologies for that error, I did a search for the Csallóközi LovasÃjászok which led me to the links. It said that the guys also portrayed Scythian and Avar.... :oops:
They do look stunning in those outfits, which are early Magyar? ..... I rather like the boots ... :wink:
So lovasijaszat means 'horsearchers'?

Did it said? I don't think they have equipments other that are shown on the pictures (it is rather expensive) but poeple can say nomad horse archers look quite the same (well, at least from a distance).
No need to apologize. I have already accepted the fact that the rest of the world (well 99,9999%) doesn't know anything about Hungary and the Hungarians and nothing about Hungarian history as well.
Well their gear (and all of the others') portray Hungarian horse archers from (probably) the 7th century until the beginning of 11th century.
Kelemen Zsolt's gear is a bit unique because of his armour and therefore a lot of other guys question it's authenticity. But still it can be correct. There is a big debate among Hungarian archeologist whether Hungarian horsearchers wear armour or not. To be honest we know very little about our ancestors before they converted to Christianity (around 1000 AD). Before that there are no primary written sources about Hungarians only the records of other volks who encountered them (mostly Bizantyne, some western christian countries, a few arabic etc.).

I recall reading a long time ago in Musset "Barbarian Invassions" that magyar horse archers carried iron bows, is that true? it seemed to me kind of strange

A good demonstration video of Kassai from 2002.....the guys holding the targets must have faith in his skill.... :o !

I have a couple of Grozers bows (partly glassfiber). The performance is more or less the same as with the traditional wood, horn & tendon bows. I have to say that it is almost magical to shoot with them, good, clean fun!

Hi All.
In December was a gift from my Wife a Kassai bow. Very good. :lol:
I've read my ancestor. Hun-Magyar horsearchery have very good attack tactics.
- Little group going toward the enemy soldiers. They was pretended the attack. Rearwards shooting from reflex bow. Kassai three time in shooting under a minute. It was a slaughter. Going fast at horses controll, just with foot. They have high saddle.
