MS Excel spreadsheet question
#1
I remember many years ago someone showed me a crude flight sim-type game embedded in excel.
Can for the life of me remember how to find it nowadays.
Anyone remember it & how to find it?
And if so, is it still there in the modern versions?

Wel, not sure if it still exists, but this is what I used many years ago to see it when I used Excel 97!

Just press F5, then type X97:L97 into the reference field and click OK. Then, press TAB. Finally, while holding CTRL-SHIFT, click the Chart Wizard. Woo hoo! (Use the left and right mouse buttons to speed up and slow down. And, if you fly around long enough, you'll come across a humorous animated monument to the programmers that worked on the program.) This originally cam from www.bootnet.com <http://www.bootnet.com> and the Easter Egg Archive <http://www.eeggs.com>

Cheers

I like the in-built Word 97 Pinball Game. Smile

Create a new document
Type "Blue"
Highlight the word
Go to Format -> Font
Choose Bold, and color the word blue
Type a space after the word
Now, open Help - About
Hold Ctrl + Shift, and click on the Word logotype

Voila. Use Z for left flipper, M for right flipper, and ESC to exit.

Sadly the excel thing, and also the word one, did not work.
My versions of both must be too modern - I am running the 2000 version - the old 97 would probably have worked though.

both also don't work in office 2003.

What does work:
in Word 2003:
Open a new document in word, type:
= rand (200,99)
and press enter!

Access 2000:
Instructions:
1. Either create a new database, or use an
existing one.
2. Create a new Macro.
3. Without entering any commands, save the macro
with the name: Magic Eight Ball (case
insensitive)
4. Close the macro.
5. Now, drag the macro you just created up to
the toolbar. It will create an Icon that
looks like a magic eight ball.
6. Ask yourself a question and click on it!

And here I was reading on the net that Microsoft doesn't allow easter eggs anymore.

Got as far as made the ball, but it did nothing when I clicked it.
Must have missed something

Ahhh. The Rand thing is not an easter egg, but a test feature:

Quote:Rand is not an easter egg, it is a feature. It helps to visualise sample text when you are doing layout. We use it often. Read microsoft’s KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=157373

Microsoft Word allows you to quickly insert sample text into a document. To do this, type =rand() in the document where you want the text to appear, and then press ENTER.

The =rand() function has the following syntax =rand(p,s)

where p is the number of paragraphs and s is the number of sentences that you want to appear in each paragraph.
Greets!
