It\'s too hot here in the UK!!
#31
Just a few days ago here in Oregon, we had our hottest day ever. 103F I don't know how that translates into celsius - you know us Amercians, unwilling to change our measurement system!

It's been in the mid 90'sF for the past few days. I don't worry about it so much for me- even though it's uncomfortable, but my poor horse just bakes!

Maybe, but it sure puts a stopper on the vegetable garden, you know? Tomatoes just don't like frosty mornings. Not bad for cabbages and broccoli, though, and potatoes don't mind at all. But freezing every day, for like two or three centuries, well, that's another story. Time to move south to the equatorial climes.

Anybody but me remember back to the 60s when the fear was we were moving into a new Ice Age? Now the same crew says just the reverse. Hmm. They can't both be right.

Looks like I spoke too soon. I've just spent the day doing some much-needed gardening, and I'm exhausted.

(I know it doesn't match the US mid-west, but it's pretty hot for Jupiter Pluvius country.)

Greetings fellow legionaries,

Here is beautiful Burbank CA

102 yesterday Sad

102 today Sad

The gods alone know about tomorrow Cry

Urban myth has it, that when it gets this hot we are into earthquake weather.

But that's just an Urban Myth...

I don't like tomatoes anyway. Tongue

I could do with lots of meat and the occasional salad of whatever green stuff grew back then. Vegetarian I'm not.

I'd miss chocolate, though.

Well, not as hot as Burbank, but probably more humid (yuck). Forecast for London over the next three days: 35 degrees (95 F) by Wednesday.

Same here on the east coast Jim,

Colchester Military Festival was horrendously hot this weeked! 8) Even with linen tunicae!

I pity the guys in Georgia and Texas, but I just hate the humidity we get here. Feels like Florida at the moment!

It actually hit 104 in Burbank on Saturday.

But that was mild compared to 110 in Woodland Hills (about 15 miles west of us) and of course out in Palm Springs (where the rich go to 'dry out') where it hit 120.

Wearing armor on days like these does not sound like much fun at all. Cry

105 in the valley, southern California. I’ve found if you jog in that kind of weather, that if it doesn’t kill you, it makes the rest of the day seem bearable.

a cool 95 today... down from 100's...n humidity always runs 85-100% on the coast. Your armor rusts in the trunk in the car!!

Candles melt...

Hobnails leave imprints in roadways...

Just another summer.

99 and 100% humidity in Philly yesterday and today. No AC.

Just to let you know how hot it is, my wife actually caved and took the kids to Chuck E. Cheeses (an indoor playground/pizza joint here in the US) just for the excuse to get out of the heat.

Me, I'm sitting between two fans on the couch. If I move more than a centimeter out of the fan zone it's like sticking my head in a blast furnace.

Elsewhere the cat, which is prone to jump on the table so we have to spritz it with a sprayer to teach it not to, jumped up on the table deliberately to get spritzed. After several attempts to dissuade the cat it lied down in the cooling mist, contentedly, until I gave up and started sprtizing myself. When a cat takes to water to get out of the heat, it's hot.

Good grief...

We just got a weather alert here (Oregon, USA) we are supposed to have 103F-105F weather by this weekend.

They are getting everyone ready telling them to drink water and how to keep cool and fans are flying off the shelves at the stores....

I'm more worried about my poor horse....

Hope you guys are staying cool!

The Nijmegen Marches (biggest walking event in the world @ 45,000 marchers) has been cancelled for the first time in 90 years! Yesterday 300 people had to be treated for heat-related problems, 30+ to the hospital and 2 died! With even higher temperatures expected today, it's fair enough the called it quits, but boy, are there going to be some disappointed people...
Greets!
