Newsletter August \'06
#1
Dear RAT-members,
While the newsletter is electronically winging its way to all of you, here's the text of the newsletter as well. Just in case.

Arrow 1: Country flags. There is now the possibility to add the flag of your country and in some cases state/province/county to your profile. To add it, go here. While you're there, why not update your profile. For those that worry: it is only visible to logged in RAT-members. Also, please check that your signature shows at least your real first name. It's a RAT rule!

Arrow 2: Rules & regulations. We have had some valid complaints about religiously themed threads and posts. So when posting, make sure you stay within the bounds set by RAT rules. For a full explanation, see this thread.
Also, as there are now many ways to display your individuality, not to mention bling-bling in your profile (avatar, medals, country & state flags), please reconsider using images in your signature. Thanks!

Arrow 3: Digests. No time to visit RAT daily? Consider having RAT sent to you by daily, weekly or even montly digest. Go here to enable this service.

Arrow 4: Armae offer. European reenactment supplier Armae as of now offers their entire Greek and Roman range at a 20% discount to RAT members. Simply mention your RAT-username with your order to use this discount.

Arrow 5: Surveys. There are currently several surveys posted on Romanarmytalk. Please help us improve our productrange for the RomanArmyShop with this poll. While you're at it, have a look at the shop as we have lately added many new and cool products. You can also help the world of Roman Reenactment by taking part in the head circumference poll. Help Deepeeka & their competitors figure out how big your helmets need to be!
Thanks for your input!

Arrow 6: Map Romanarmy.com has had an interactive map for a while now. RAT-ers can add their own location, but we especially would like to urge group leaders to add their reenactment groups to the map! After all, it's so much easier if prospective members can see in the blink of an eye where the nearest unit is!

Arrow 7: Quiz!. RomanArmyTalk used to have a running quiz in its early days. We would like to continue this tradition and are willing to make prizes available. However, we do need someone who is willing to run a quiz once a month. Volunteers, please step forward!

Arrow 8: Rome Total War. We would also like to know if anyone is interested in a Rome Total War tournament. For that too, we'd need a volunteer to run the tournament. Does anyone have experience playing this game online and how to organize such an event? Please show yourselves!

Arrow 9: Utah film help needed. We have received this request for assistance with the making of a short documentary in Utah. If you can help, please contact Erin directly at erindinnell*AT*hotmail.com.

Arrow 10: Deepeeka Imperial Gallic A. You kept on reading? Good, because here's the reward. Deepeeka have upgraded their Imperial Gallic A helmet with the help of RAT members and Peroni especially. As a 'thank you' they have given a free helmet to Adrian and are offering 10 (ten) helmets to RAT members at the very reduced price of $145 (normally $195) including shipping!

Now to ensure that everyone has a fair chance of getting one of these ten helmets, we'll instate the following procedure. On Sunday August 20th at 10.00PM GMT (that's 5PM EST, 11.00PM Amsterdam) I will start a new thread in the RAT marketplace titled Deepeeka Imperial Gallic A. The first ten members to put a message in that thread claiming a helmet, will get one. The helmets will ship at the end of this month.

Remember, if you claimed it, you bought it!

That's it for now!

Best
