Hello everyone,
I was thinking about names the other day. In ancient times personal names had an actual meaning.
In fact names were considered to have an effect upon the character of the person. For example Polydoros means many gifted, a name given in the hope that the boy would grow up to be talented.
So do you know what your name means?
My name Spyridon would mean that I would be dedicated to Demeter goddess of agriculture. Etymologically it stands for the round basket used during seeding. That means that I'm the fountain of all good (as if... )

Cristina means 'annointed one' and does have Christian connections.....
I legally dropped the 'h' so as not to be a hypocrite or to insult the ancestral Christopher(s) I was named for by changing my name....
although I came across this meaning just now.....
Beautiful yet slightly shy and a bit insecure, very outgoing
Which is correct, although external beauty is viewed through the eye of the beholder (who may sometimes need glasses) rather than beauty that is somewhat harder to see (without the glasses)

I forgot to tell that my name comes from the Greek name Kristos which means the "anointed one". I think it has the same origins as Cristina's name.

JASPER
Gender: Masculine
Usage: English
Pronounced: JAS-pur [key]
Means "treasurer" in Persian. The name Jasper was traditionally given to one of the three kings (also known as the three Magi, or wise men) who visit the newborn Jesus in the New Testament. This name can also be given in reference to the English word for the gemstone.

Will do  . Actually codfish is traditionally eaten here in Greece with scordalia, a garlic and walnuts or almonds sauce. Here’s a recipe
