Attended groups - Legio X Gemina Pia Fidelis and Legio XIII Gemina from Austria. I must commend these excellent guys which acted as archers on this event. And of course, some barbarians were there...

Yes, that's him. Here is older but more detailed photo of my centurio M Gambrinvs Vvlgaris.

Isarno open air museum is not yet completed, but looks good.

Ave!

Primary goal of the Czech Legio X GPF and many other re-enactment groups is fighting, therefore some historical inaccuracy in equipment. The battles are really fierce with steel swords, axes, spears etc. and risk of injury is very high. That's why the armoured fist. (see damaged shield)

In the evening before the event one barbarian suffered head injury during training, fortunately minor one with cut about 5 cm / 2 inches long and not very deep so rescue ambulance team did some six stitches. Injured barbarian could not join the next day battle.

Attacker felt guilty and drank too much. While being drunk another barbarian cut his goatee pigtail which made him furious and were some fist fighting, since he had sword and dagger it was necessary to disarm him first. Big Grin

The fighting took place in the celtic style pub with guys in period costumes with weapons. Really fantastic atmosphere. 8)

It seems to me that some barbarians are wearing late Roman helmets... Am I right?

Yes, as I wrote above, some barbarians are originally from dark age groups, so we changed their medieval helmets for late roman just for the battle.

Unfortunately we have shortage of both romans and barbarians. Sad
