This is said to be the largest image on the web (8.6 gigapixels). It is a fresco by Ferrari (no not that Ferrari) that occupies the entire wall of an Italian church. I had a detail from it on my screen at four times natural size (there is a handy ruler). Trajan's Column next? If only...
Image processing was with a quadruple Opteron machine with 16Gb of RAM - sort of a render farm in a box! Got one of those, Jim? ;-)
Warning, it has been slashdotted so the initial loading can take a while but once you're in it works quite quickly and the only sound you will hear (other than Mozart's Requiem) is your jaw hitting the ground.
