After a short article in our local newspaper i found out that there are new infos about the Kalkriese excavations from this year.
It was mentioned that a few specialists will meet in Detmold on the 15.11.2006 an discuss the new informations.
The persons speaking about the following topics are:

PD Dr. G. Moosbauer (University of Osnabrück)
"Kalkriese - Ein multidisziplinäres Forschungsprojekt"

Dr. S. Wilbers-Rost (Varus-Battle near – Museum and Park Kalkriese)
"Die Ausgrabungen auf dem "Oberesch" in Kalkriese und Möglichkeiten zur Interpretation der Kampfhandlungen"

Dr. A. Rost (Belm)
Methodische Ãœberlegungen zur Interpretation des Kampfplatzes von Kalkriese,

Dr. P. Kehne (Leibniz University Hannover)
Die Aussagekraft antiker Quellen zur Interpretation von Kalkriese,

Prof. Dr. R. Wolters (Eberhard-Karls-University Tübingen)
Die Aussagekraft römischer Münzen zur Datierung frühkaiserzeitlicher Fundplätze,

I for myself will definitly be there and listen to their discussion, especially after Dr S. Wilbers-Rost presented the new finds from this years campain. (Newspaper tells about two V-shaped roman ditches in front of the earth wall)

Ave Patrick,

thanks for that interesting news!

Unfortunately I've not the time to jump over to Detmold that day.
Please give us a report! (Especially if there were new armour or weapon finds).

Laudes to you!
