I received my copy today and could only quickly browse through it. But from the first look it looks very promising.

Thanks, Jasper, for recommending this book.

I'm now finished with reading this indeed very interesting book. It focuses on the gladiatorial shows and the chariot races though it does not leave out the theater where appropriate. Sometimes though it's not so clear about which part of the munera the author is talking, e.g. calling a condemned person nonetheless a gladiator.

Overall though it is definitely a worthy read for all interested in the Roman games esp. munera. Because of that book I bought a copy now of Tertullian De spectaculis.
