Any thoughts about the hamian archers knife? Has anyone thought about a reconstruction or a drawing?

It's basically a single edged blade about 14/15" long.

My colleague Steve has a reconstruction;

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the input - one thing else would like some info on - Adrian maybe - "Warriors of Rome" and the Grave stone from Housesteads both show Hamians carrying a small axe as well as the knife - seems to have an unusual head - very square - any sources out there? Pictures? Descriptions?

Thanks

Mark.

A bit late, but I don't know if this is any good to you - it's Robinson's archer from the Museum of Antiquities, Newcastle upon Tyne:

Great.Interested in getting a close up of the knife.
Also of the bow. Any ideas ,anyone, as to where i might purchase similiar in this country? Have tried e mailing various well known suppliers but they do not seem to want to answer.
I am looking for a bow which looks used and is able to take the knocks on the field.

There`s a "roman bow" which looks reasonable authentic. I have acouple of Grozers bows and I am more than satisfied with their price/quality ratio!

I've attached this photo of Fronto with "the knife". I'm afraid I haven't got any close ups of it though I'll try and take some the next time he comes to an event (assuming he doesn't turn up in Napoleonic kit - he can get rather absent minded).

By the way Mark - I've just burnt your disc will post today.

I believe the largest contingent of reconstructed Hamian/Levantine Roman auxilliary archers were the six provided by LEG XIIII, in uniform dress and equipment, among the 45 man U.S. Army contingent that attended the Albano/Rome living history event. The group used the reproduction bows from Hungary, and fired blunt arrows at the LEG XXX Testudo during the demonstration. I lost my images of the event with the return to the U.S., but believe they are posted in the RAT archived messages.
