Linen and purple, brown, green and red wool,

20.3 x 10 cm. (30 x 19 cm. framed)
Valete,
TITVS/Daniele Sabatini

casta faue Lucina; tuus iam regnat Apollo ...

In a german forum it was also discussed and some guys showed this:

http://www.geschichtsforum.de/attachmen ... 1166450996
So it seems a repeated gestus, but we don't know what it means. If it's really a salute the most presentations miss the one, who was greeted by the shown. Look on the Domitius relief. For our eyes he seem to greet someone, but no one pay attention to him.
So, what else could this gestus mean. perhaps the people bring their equipment in place?
Or is it a gestus to get attention? Or to force the attention to the helmet...
it's quite hard to say.

Ouch! Ok, let's resume ourselves...
How many samples have we in total now? Five-six?
Exactly when, samples like them become an evidence to put in the roman re-enactment bag?
I recall of several "evidences" that count less samples...

Good question, Daniele.
I'm working on this in my group, most of our members are convicted now that a roman salute could also be that.

Well Danielle/Titus!
I hate to be the party pooper, but in at least 2 of those images you posted, the Ahenobarbus included, I would say the soldier is merely adjusting his helm, and the other reaching for his crest to either remove it, or straighten his helmet........! Just my own observation!
