Andrea 54mm Legionary

Here is an Andrea 54mm legionary (1st Century AD) that I am working on. Tunic colour should provoke some debate. I am just trying to figure out what shield device to use. Any suggestions?

Hi Barry,
Small tip - if I may - it seems like the blue of the tunic and that of the shield are the same color. Try to coat the shield in a slightly different blue before you apply the design. It'll look more 'natural'.

What kind of paints are those Barry? Do you make your own washes, or do you buy premade ones?

Hi Matt,

Mostly Vallejo Acrylics, with some Andrea acrylics too. I also experiment wth mixing the acrylics with varnishes (acrylic based) for some shading, and to give iron a little more "weathered and worn" look where possible.

Fleshtones are with Andrea's excellent kit, which allows me to be a little more consistent with colour mixing.

I am trying to take better pictures with different settings on my camera, imporved lighting, and better backdrop. Any tips?
