Help needed improving my "Niederbieber" helmet!
#16
Quote:I removed the brass from a Deepeeka Gallic H simply by heating it with a propane torch. It was only attached at the joints by brazing. I then had to cut that with a dremel. Once I had reshaped the skirt it was difficult in learning how to anneal and shape the brass back to the piece. However I am confident you can do it. It just requires patience something I am short on.
Thanks Paul! Anyway my original idea was to take away the brass edgings completely! I think the new improved Deepeeka Niederbieber helmet don`t have those edgings at all. My only worry is that due to the thinnes of material the edges of the cut outs would be too sharp Cry ...

I would like to cut a little away from the cheek pieces and the neck quard (see the picture) of my Niederbieber helmet to make it more authentic. So here are the questions:

I know you want to cut some off your cheek pieces and neck guard,
Virilis, and good luck with it. I just prefer it the way it is. Not only the
aesthetic appeal of the design, but the extra protection you are
currently getting for your neck and shoulders. When you think that
this is where a barbarian with a sword is most likely to be attacking
you, it's a comfort to have as much protection as possible.
