New Gallipoli footage discovered.
#1
Greetings,
The Australian War Memorial has discovered one minute of previously unseen footage. This shows soldiers gathering at Anzac Cove and Suvla Bay, on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
You can see a television announcement with footage here

The enemy is less likely to get wind of an advance of cavalry, if the orders for march were passed from mouth to mouth rather than announced by voice of herald, or public notice. Xenophon

Thankyou Arthes,

Not only being an aussie but my birthday is on Anzac Day, which will probably be today by the time the rest of the world reads this.

Anzac Day has always bought home just how 'random' death is during war for me..with each year I watch the Anazac Marches here to see the last remaining Digger to die last year.

One day I will get to Turkey for theDawn Service, but for all you who may not have been to The Australian War Memorial, when you first walk into the memorial you are greeted by one of the long boats the soldiers landed upon the beaches off Gallipoli, what is sickening is when you walk around it, you notice it is riddled with hundreds of bullet holes inches apart.... life was over for many of these young heroes even before they left the boats.

lest we forget.
