Quote::?: :?: Raethians :?: :?:

Yep.

Raethians were a people that lived on the Alps (part in Austria, part in Northern Italy), probably akin to the Ligurians.

Raethians were deeply influenced by the Etruscans, and in part by the Celts.

Ah, now I see them on my map...

I recently visited a couple of museums in Swiss, there I encountered the Lepontiers, in one of my books about them there's a little map with to the east of the Lepontiers the Raethians... :roll:

All those Celtic German and other tribes and groups are interesting.

Maybe we should start a thread about all their differences, similarities and their relationship to Rome??

It was the wig worn by Prasutagus! I felt honoured! We all had multiple roles that weekend, I went from auxiliary soldier to legionary optio to iron age warrior and so on!

I have some pics of the wife dressed as an iron age boy I will post later!

It was a really HOT weekend. It was filmed with The Vicus (with a few of the RMRS) for the Discovery channel at Butser ancient farm. We even got to burn down one of the big roundhouses! :twisted:

I think that you look quite splendid Peroni......nah im just messing.
Out of sight of subject shores, we kept even our eyes free from the defilement of tyranny. We, the most distant dwellers upon earth, the last of the free, have been shielded till today by our very remoteness and by the obscurity in which it has shrouded our name.

Wich I am verry proud of.
Second my homemade (exept for the umbo) new shield with an (urly) La Tene III decoration style, known as the sword style.

Yes greekwarrior34 I belief Ceasar wrote in his Bello Gallico that the Celts of Britany used to paint them selfs. Being a continetal Celt I sort of adopted that idea...
I know it's up to debate whether it's woad they used or something else.

But yes it looks cool :wink:
And it gifs me something more to tell and explain about during shows...
