Tell me about it. I've 'wasted' so many hours when I should have been working just taking one more province, or just continuing till that city surrenders etc. I've completed it twice now - once as the Julii clan and the second time, on the next difficulty level up I may add, as the Seleucids. That felt really good, trouncing those arrogant Romans!

Enjoy!

It is a great game! You should try the RTR version too, once you have played it a while!

thanks I'll try that sometime when I have a few days to spare! Actually I have to play Hearts of Iron II next. My nephew gave it to me for Christmas but I've been so hooked on RTW that I haven't even installed it yet and it seems a bit rude not to try it.

thanks again

Hearts of Iron? I am going to set up my new computer, then I will be able to play RTR at home too, not just on my lap top! Sad, isn't it!

You should also check out the "Europa Barbarorum" mod. I recently returned to RTW after installing this Mod. Currently playing as the Sarmatians...I've discovered I NEVER play as the Romans, always as their enemies..and I just LOVE to sack Rome...

Yes, I am a bad, bad, bad Barbarian...

I have finish also by the Julii, and now i'm playing for the seleucids: i'm in a war with the ptolomaics, the partians, pontus, and armenia; they all attacked me by surprise, when i was in a war with some rebels, the traitors!

Well, sadly I still play as Romans! And always as the Julii in RTW!
But, I rarely lose a battle to the barbarians, and am fighting on three fronts! The Carthaginians are obviously overawed by my prowess, as they are easily bribed into peace! I plan on leaving them to last!!

I found playing with the Seleucids that early on I had to rely a lot on bribery (once I got my income sorted enough), and also that the Scythed Chariots are way more useful than the real thing ever were and can be used as real shock cavalry - (pity about their tendency to run amok right at the outset of a crucial battle!). I hadn't read the technology chart before playing so took me a while to realise I could get these as soon as I built a blacksmith or armourer. The cataphracts, once you get them are also very handy.

Hmmmmm, So far I am on friendly terms with the parthians, but that will change! Soon!
The Seleucids usually get them selves wiped out before I ever get a chance to come to grips with them! But maybe different in RTR.

Well, i'm using hoplits, phalanx and cretan mercenaries against ptolomaics and pontos, and light cav against armenia and parthia.
When i played for the Julii, the seleucids were eliminated quickly and substituted by Pontus
