Greek Peltasts
#1
Obviously not in Sparta, but did the poor/lower class of most Greek city states serve as Peltasts or was this a mercenary role. The rich were the Calvary, the middle class were the hoplites, so what about the poor? Thanks.

Classical Greek peltasts were mostly, but not exclusively, mercenaries.
The lower classes would either fight as light infantry much less well equipped and trained than peltasts, or row in the fleet, or not fight at all.

Note that this is not a Roman military topic, so it will be relocated gently to Off Topic.
