I wonder then if that's just where the myth of Romans having vambraces/bracers/cuffs from Hollywood came from in the first place - someone held up a shield and had the edge cut into his wrist....And thinking the Romans "must" have needed protection to the sword-hand-wrist as well, being all exposed like that<br>

Either way, with no evidence, there's little chance of it flying with many reenactors and historians.<br>

Besides...You can handle a Scutum with surprising results by just practicing and "getting used to it" - of course if you still need the extra padding (wool or leather or whatnot) - I'm sure it helps a bunch, something I'll consider if I run into problems if I ever get my scutum done. <p>-ANDY ~ Your Friendly Neighborhood Roman Dude.<br>
