Re: What was the question, again? - satsobek - 01-16-2003

I'm sorry. I just wanted to point out how amazing I think this topic is to have started with a discussion of attractive people, moved on to Roman underwear, and has now transitioned into a chat about signal flags!
Amazing? Or a typical discussion conducted by a vast majority of males? --
I wonder if there was a high occurance of wagon accidents on the roads to Rome of women talking on cell phones, putting make-up on and driving?

There were a lot of such accidents, but after the Romans standardized the width of all chariots and wagons to the same gauge, that minimized the problem.
Richard Campbell, Legio XX
The big troubles came when the slaves were allowed to have an own cell-phone (thanks to the low prices too) to talk to their relatives in their countries: the cell- phones makers lobbies thought to get the century deal, but a flood of calls and sms suddenly jammed the system of communications (the Cursus Publicus were not more enough...) so the Empire risked a premature fall...
Re: RED OR WHITE - rekirts - 02-08-2003

Love your drawing Satsobek.

Red? White? How about a tartan tunic? Has some nice alliteration--tartan tunic. Then you could have both red and white. Besides, it's not the colour of the tunic, but what's underneath that counts--and you can drag your minds out of the gutter right now! I'm talking about the whole...ah...forget it...

Forget the Romans! Let's all go to Scotland!
And I applaud your use of alliteration. If we've got tartan tunics, does that mean we can have tartan togas as well?
-Christy

Re: RED OR WHITE OR YELLOW? - Caius Fabius - 02-09-2003

You can have tarts in Togas if they wear yellow togas.....

Remember some Romans wore a striped toga, and various priests wore multi-coloured cloaks and toga.
Forget the tunics!
There is nothing like a nice pair of figure hugging leather femenalia to complement the effect of all that manly armor!
Re: re:red or white? - Caius Fabius - 02-10-2003

I can buy the leather pants, but where can I get a nice figure????? (well, yes Magnus, I know..... but it wouldn't be mine!)

Re: re:red or white? - Anonymous - 02-10-2003
