Those 2 are in IMHO the best of Vincent Price, excellent movies!

Quote:Have you considered this version of The Thief of Bagdad?

At the Cinema: The Reader

I thought this a very good film with excellent performances.

It is about responsibility -- taking responsibility for ourselves and for the people we touch, tame or otherwise impact by our actions or inactions. It does not matter what we think, or feel, or believe but only what we do, or not as the case may be, and is for many of the characters. There is some very interesting depth and subtlety of character and story at work here and some great acting on display by all involved.

Goodbye Lenin! (for the third time). It remains a funny, sad, heart-breaking, serious, and light-hearted tragicomedy about love, hypocrisy, friendship, and a bit of politics. The speech by "Sigmund Jähn" remains one of the most beautiful statements of what it is to be human. If you haven't seen it yet: GO.

Tonight, I saw Gomorra, a movie about the camorra (the criminal organization of Naples). It's essentially five stories about people who try to survive, and are caught in the tentacles of the monster. Depressing, but very, very good.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

The Dark Knight

In IMAX.

IT was worth it... especially when the bottom of my jeans started flapping from the shaking of the woofer during the scene where the Joker blows up the hospital....

There's obviously a pun in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, but I don't get it...

Re: The last film you watched.... - M. Demetrius - 02-22-2009

There are more than just one, Jona. Water slide/Waterloo is just one of the most obvious. But if you don't get it, it probably demonstrates superior intellect on your part. The whole thing of B&T is that there's nothing to get. If you get something from it, you brought it with you.

Kind of funny sometimes, but predictably lacking in smart comedy. Keanu has gotten lots of better roles since then. Not sure about his sidekick, though. Doesn't seem to have done much. Oh, well.

Edited: Did some checking and found Mr. Winter has moved to directing and production, a couple of TV roles, and a movie or two. He's still in the game, just a different slot.

Off topic: I just heard someone say that he seen Apocalypse Now... on TV. It was cold, so I didn't tear my robes, but that would of course have been the proper course after hearing this utter blasphemy.

Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King

I began watching it while I was babysitting (actually I still have to see the last part (but I've seen it before)), and consequence: I want to see the two others again as well, and I'm reading the books.

Yes, the extended version (Apocalypse Redux) has been playing on cable quite a bit of late. Unfortunately, with the demise of the Revival Houses (caused by the rise of home video) there is no place to see these classics except on TV.

Of course, if your living room is equipped with a 52" XBR7 (240-Refresh), a Blu-Ray player and a surround sound system (with bowel movement inducing sub woofer) even Coppola might not object...
