Natural Disasters and Roman Emergency Management? - Restitvtvs - 09-17-2006

I'll start this Natural Disasters and Roman Emergency Management thread with a news release about Mount Vesuvius, near Naples, Campania, Italy.

[url:1r7sefkk]http://www.buffalo.edu/news/fast-execute.cgi/article-page.html?article=78030009[/url]

My first university degree is in earth sciences, I witnessed Mount Saint Helens' largest eruption in 1980, and my real life work is in emergency management. With the nexus of my Roman history interest, I take particular interest in Mount Vesuvius' history. I am greatly concerned about lives & safety of the millions of people who live and work within Mount Vesusius' range/reach.

More posts later on these matters. +r

Hi William,

I moved this to OT because it's not a civilian subject, even though it's interestin g and Roman-related.
