RomanArmy.com Bookstore
#1
Please, do your Roman book shopping through the RomanArmy.com Bookstore. Many of the books discussed in this forum can be purchased through our website.

Visit our Bookstore and help support RomanArmy.com!

Our store is offered in cooperation with Amazon.com, who return part of their profit to us when you "click through" these links to Amazon and complete your purchases. We use all funds raised to defray the costs of operating RomanArmy.com, which include hosting, storage space, and bandwidth.

Thanks!
An excellent idea! I wish you'd been around a month ago; you'd have gotten a slice of "The Complete Roman Army".
Ah, too bad, Rich. Well, next time...

The Bookstore is not new, but we're doing more these days to publicize it. Over time we do manage to cover most of the hosting costs for RomanArmy.com from what Amazon.com kicks back to us for the Bookstore referral sales. It truly is a good program.

Thanks!
Thanks- some great books. Two question and a shameless suggestion:-

- Hopefully Mike Bishop's book will also feature?

-As I (and many others) are non US based, will they ship from our local Amazon rather than the US?

-Shameless suggestion- if you wanted to feature Roman and Romano-British books targetted at teenagers to get them interested, you might want to mention my wife's books "Warriors of Alavna" and "Warriors of Camlann" (NM Browne)
I think you have to set up separate associate programmes with each manifestation of Amazon – I have amazon.com and amazon.co.uk associate accounts for The Armatura Press (www.armatura.co.uk/ - if you hover your pointer over each of the logos at the bottom you'll see that they redirect to different accounts at different locations) and they are separate entities. Presumably similar arrangements exist at amazon.de and amazon.it (and any others that have sprung up).

Since this board has members from all over the world, it might be worth Romanarmy.com setting up accounts with all amazons (the retailers, not the warriors!) for the Bookshop. Trouble is, you then run into the problems of different editions in print at different times in different places etc etc.
Thanks for all the ideas -- when I have access again to upload new pages to RA.com (darn it, being in Egypt!) I'll include your recommended books as well.

Hmm, never thought about registering with other Amazons ( ) but shouldn't it automatically direct people to their local Amazon.com? Otherwise we have to create several sets of identical links, one for each geographical Amazon.
Nope, it does not automatically redirect, nor can the site decide for itself. So we'll have to set up extra accounts and let the visitor choose.
Greets
Nope, not yet. That would require me to rewrite those pages, make a distinction between .uk, .com, .fr and .de. Any good ideas how, especially for books that are available at both? Maybe generic links?
Greets
If I remember right, it is a bit of cut and paste with the book number and the amazon associate link. We would probably have to set up an account with each amazon site, then have a different "page" for each site, and update it.
It might be easier to experiment in "grant writing' to fund the site! Maybe some of our authors might sell autographed copies of their books for a fee, and donate the additional money to the site, since it does promote some books....
I stopped using paypal (they owe me about $700.00) or I'd just make a donation.

Hi Caius,
I know, it's not so hard. I guess we just need some more people to give us a hand with RA.com, doing all the various little things that need to be done! So, any volunteers?
Greets
