I just called my wife who is the manager for the local Barnes and Nobles and asked her about availability. According to the computer, the book is on backorder and should take 3 to 4 weeks to get, although there is no guarantee on this. Since she gets employee discount, I asked for a copy. After I whined and groveled, she grudgengly agreed. I also agreed to a visit from her overly vocal sister who is both a liberal and born again. I feel like a cheap prostitute. The ISBN is 0 7141 2248 3 for those of you who have the cash.
According to company policy, the discount can only go to employees, and they are strict on this. Kathy said she couldn't do it... She did check on the policy for you. However, you can still get a visit from her sister who will explain salvation and the Kerry Economic Plan at great length, if you want.
Oxbow books ( www.oxbowbooks.com), based in the UK, still has this book as 'Not yet published - advance orders taken' The book costs lots, and it seems to be a paperback; lots of pics and some colour photos though.
Maybe you guys misunderstood my earlier post.
BMP are the publishers and they say it's not published yet. Nothing Barnes & Noble do is going to change that.

It's more likely to be the publisher at fault than the author. Ask Mike Bishop about the delays with publishing 'Lorica Segmentata'.
According to the author, it is due by the end of this month and is printing at the moment. If you don't ask...
Oxbow has begun advertising:

(2) Book Feature: The Romans in the Desert

War is a theme we are all too familiar with these days, but a quick look
at the history books shows us that conflict was never far away during
ancient times, either. Simon James's EXCAVATIONS AT DURA-EUROPOS, FINAL
REPORT VII, THE ARMS AND ARMOUR AND OTHER MILITARY EQUIPMENT brings this
point home in spectacular detail, with hundreds of finds described and
illustrated.
My copy of the book is on its way. The final price is 95 pounds!
I'll have to sell one of my kidneys for paying it! At lest I have another kidney left...
