I have and had the same problem finding archaeological evidence for late roman saddles, no pictures is the biggest problem.
When i read about an excavation width horse gear(mostly early medieval),in the netherlands, sometimes a probable saddle is mentioned.
Being made of wood,leather and horse hair only, nothing is found back accept the metal parts.
No bone or other parts,as far as i know off, found what could lead to a reconstruction.
The closest are the saddle parts from Krefeld Gellep and Mainz.
The biggest question is, is it saddle width or without horns or is it a saddle like the steppe saddles.
