Quote:Resolution sought for the whereabouts of 9th legion during the Jewish wars and whether the 10th legion really was stationed in Britain?Depends to which Jewish Wars you are referring. At the time of those in the AD 60s, the IX Hispana was definitely in Britain and still there at the beginning of the 2nd century AD when it dedicated an inscription in York. By the time of the Jewish Revolt of the AD 130s, the Ninth had left Britain and their ultimate destination is a matter of debate.
The Tenth briefly visited Britain with Julius Caesar in 55 BC but never formed part of the garrison after the Claudian invasion of AD 43.
