I have to say, the articles I've been reading in Computer Gaming World and Computer Games magazines have really looked great. No doubt about it -- Rome:Total War is going a dimension beyond Medieval and Shogun!

I did have to laugh at one amusing screenshot that managed to show cavalrymen in lorica segmentata and crested legionary helmets, while their legionary infantry counterparts were wearing cavalry-appropriate kit: crestless cav-type helmets and chainmail with shoulder doubling.

Couldn't they all do a one-for-one swap?
the trailer looks great. I see that the "flaming catapults" are also back...
Professionals built the Titanic, amateurs built the ark
Yea; those are a bit over the top (pun intended), but I think the trailer is an example of "everything but the kitchen sink" approach to previews. I think that the actual battles will have a bit more organization.
...and download the VOP file dated 06/29. It is a GameStar preview. It is in German - and you will need VLC version 7.2 to play it - but it does give you a nice preview of what the final product will look like.
Consensus indicates the following;
1 Gig CPU
AT LEAST 512 Mgs of RAM
64 Mg graphics card - and don't use MX cards as they are crap.

You can't do much about your CPU - but upgrade your card if you need to - older 64 Mg cards are cheap.

Barkhorn.

Yea. I should have added that CPU upgrades are mobo limited. I would also add that - if you don't have 1 Gig of at least DDR RAM and a 256Mg vid card - you are probably better off upgrading these items than you are the CPU.
