Horatius At The Bridge
#1
The topic America: a new Roman Empire, got me to thinking about life in our modern age. I'm 51 and I have seen things change greatly. When I was kid we were introduced to this poem about 5th grade I think. Horatius was a kind of symbol about how a citizen of a Republic behaved; so was Cincinnatus, who was as I recall compared to George Washington. I suppose it is corny now days, but as for me, it still makes hair on the back of my neck stand up.<br>
