FBX=Fire Box Steel, a type of mild steel. It's used at my dad's nuke plant.

For some sword measurements, check the last post in this thread. It has about 12 different finds listed with the length of blade and width.

Only the Newstead Pompeii Gladius is 50mm wide ( 2 inches). The rest are thinner.

Also a small field anvil, In the museum is sats it was used for dressing farming tools out in the fields, but I imagine similar ones could be used for dressing sword edges.
A useful addition to your range I imagine.

I think it is simply stck in a stump or the ground, the curly bits stopping it from sinking too far? I think tha twas what the bumpph said in the museum....or perhaps just my imagination adding the details....

Dan Marcvs is right it does not have to be 2" wide the sizes I gave were a guide to the ones that have been found, so long as it falls into this range you will be OK. FBX will be fine so free is good
