Eurovision Song Contest
#16
Quote:anyway, in the last decades this has become an absurd circus in most countries obviously and i think the songs that won could have come from everywhere ... but, only the old generation is a bitmore serious about this.
Which essentially proves that the European unification is one of the greatest successes in recent political history. We can make fun of things our parents took very serious.

The fact it´s that her miniskirt was illegal in Spain at that same time Confusedhock:

I´m convinced that the Spanish singer of this year it´s worth the respect I have for Eurovision

BTW: I´ll be the last Spanish who hasn´t heard it yet Confusedhock: I´ll try to resist until The Day...but going back to Spain for Tarraco Viva will make it more difficult :?

Elvis re-enactment?

We can beat you. I just saw Dustin's song And its funny  8)
"The Kaiser knows the Munsters,
by the Shamrock on their caps,
And the famous Bengal Tiger, ever ready for a scrap,
And all his big battalions, Prussian Guards and grenadiers,
Fear to face the flashing bayonets of the Munster Fusiliers."

we have even more borders, but get hardly any votes from our neighboures. we loose even more votes as lots of our foreign residents, vote for their homecountries, especially turkey ...

Like usual, Belgium distinguishes itself by its composition. When our representants are singing in French, we have some votes of France. When our representants are singing in Dutch, we have some votes of the Netherlands. We have sometimes (less and less) votes of Spain, probably because of Queen Fabiola. And after that, the song must be really good to have other votes.

Belgium has still won in 1986 (it was in french Smile

And Belgium has also often finished at the 2nd place. The last time was in 2003 (it was in a language that does not exist, to offend no linguistical community :? )

Ok so here is the belgian song of 2008 :

http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=wrD34yw-r ... re=related

It's a flemish song (always in an imaginary language). In the french-speaking part of Belgium, a lot of people say that it is the bad year. Belgium has never made better that 9th place when the Flemish represent it. Big Grin

Watched the first semi final last night. What a strange mix of the bizarre and downright boring!

Well done Finland, it might be rubbish metal but any metal will do. It's not often sheep get mentioned in rock music after all  Apparently one viewer in the UK emailed in to say they weren't sure if it was very very macho or very very camp! Armenia was a bit creepy with the whole kissing thing and they're brother and sister :?

So far I'm in support of Azerbaijan cos it's just soooo bad! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTNREz9CVs4

Thanks Libby  !

Believe me, it is camp! The words are turbo-charged Manowar. In fact it is quite funny...

Phew okay! Must have gone down well as you're through to final. I said last night we must move to Finland, they have a much better sense of humour sometimes than here
