battle of Edessa. 260 AD

Why was Firdousi silent in his Shahnameh about capturing Valerian by Ardashir I? It was a unique case in Roman history!
Are there any Persian sources on this battle (with the exception of Rock reliefs)?

Valerian was captured by Shapur. He describes the war in the text known as Res Gestae divi Saporis.

In the Shahname the Battle of Edessa is mentioned, IIRC a detail is a hard-fought duel between Valerian and a Persian hero named Garshasp the Lion and that almost 10.000 Romans died in the battle.
