On the depeeka scales I notice that central ridge. Is that based on finds or just depeeka letting their imagination influence their work?

Ridges are fine. Some scales had them, and some didn't. There is even a school of thought that "plumata" refers to regular scale armor with ridges, as opposed to squamata without ridges.

Daniel Steelcraft sell scales as well, I just found out. They are a nice smaller size that is more realistic for a person than say a horse (25mm long 15mm wide), and happen to match the size of a set of authentic ones. They are also slightly dished which is a nice added bonus of realism
