York Viking Festival and Cesary
#1
The last week York has had it’s 27th annual Viking Festival and various members of Comitatus were honoured to take part in a variety of ways, from textile workshops, traders markets, firework displays, concerts and battles to name just a few.

The festival is the largest event in York’s historical calendar with hundred of re-enactors taking part lead by Regia Anglorum and supported by many other groups. Lots of RAT members were in town for at least part of the festival and the parties every evening were excellent. My house hosted a brilliant fire dancing display and there was even belly dancing, my neighbours are still recovering. It is excellent making new friends every year and it is a special date in my calendar.

Cesary Wyszinski brought a massive stall to the markets and as ever was fully adopted by Comitatus. We enjoyed talking Roman helmets, textiles and marching in kit. The use of felt in the bed rolls of the XXI Rapax were of especially interest to me. I think Amy is heading back to Poland with him to make her fortune.

Yes it was a great market actually. I certainly managed to part with enough cash! Confusedhock:
It's nice to have a market so close to home. The quality of some of the traders is outstanding and you always find things you didn't plan to buy!

I was torn between a nice range of spearheads, and a number of new brooches for different periods I am branching out into.

Vikings everywhere! I met several RAT members too, at the watering holes, including Medicus Matt and Raedwald Smile
