the most accurate movie? I'd have to see it again as i havent seen it in a VERY LONG TIME all I can remeber was that it had a battle on a bridge and I believe it was set near rome and there was someone trying to take rome but if it is what i am thinking the clothing was well done , not costumy and the armour was more like greek linothorax ( yes I know its not even close ) but this armour was more to at least the period of the setting which was early rome and I am thinking based on the well now i cant think of his name but he had a battle on a bridge and held off the enemy .....movie might have been made in italy... well now actually now I am wanting to see this thing again to see if it was really any good or not anyone know this movie?

According to Zorikh Lequidre, Resident The Fall of the Roman Empire Scholar:
"This is the plot "Gladiator" ripped off. As Emperor Marcus Aurelius Ceasar and his top general battle the Germans, The Emperor decides to make the general (who happens to be a friend to his son, Commodus, and lover to his daughter, Lucilla) his heir. The Emperor is murdered and Commodus becomes Ceaser, and proceedes to turn the glory of Rome into a decadent party. The efforts of the general and Lucilla to keep Marcus Aurelius' dream of a noble and republican Rome are contiually thwarted by Commodus, who sends the general to Germany and marries Lucilla to Omar Sharif (a foreign prince). It all ends up with massive battle scenes, dancing in the streets of Rome, burning martyrs, and a mano-a-mano between the general and Commodus."

Octavianus- by any chance, and if you can recall, was the film that you are trying to describe filmed in German?

Hadrianus- are you serious about a Hannibal movie with Denzel Washington in the lead role? If so, do you happen to know who the screenwriter is?
Octavianus, not sure what the film was, but I suspect by your descrition it was telling the story of Horatius Cocles defending the bridge over the Tiber.

In the name of heaven Catiline, how long do you propose to exploit our patience..

If it was Horatius, the hoplite panoply would not be inaccurate. At that early date, the Romans and other Italian peoples were still wearing Greek gear, which was all the rage at that time.

I am back I am sorry computer been acting up. it ( th emovie ) could have been in german as it was awhile ago I dont really remember, yes it could have been either about horatius or it was just 1 part in the whole movie. but it was that part which still sticks to my mind this day.
in ref to accuracy I had seen the helmet in a book on movies and then looked up the helmet and it was right ( the helmet in fall of roman emp ) soon as i find it ill post it. - johnn

Ok, well, if the armor appeared very accurate and very early Roman, then it is not the movie that I am thinking of, Kampf um Rom, which is Late Antiquity.
