Roman axes

Hi to all,
              Anytime used axes, in any war by Roman against any army ?
             if used what type axes, they used and still here i did not see any type axes here?
             hope you will give your valuable experience and knowledge.

We know that at Adrianople the infantry had axes and according to Ammianus some of them used them in combat. They may have been issued to enable them to chop their way through the wagon laager. There are axes depicted in the Notitia.
