Although not specifically roman I think it's a general interest find that will inform other areas.
It's method and materials in construction are really interesting, and that it has no metal used on it.
It's described as the same shape as the battersea shield which may shed some new light on that object too as a metal version of an existing common shaped thing.
Its called the "Enderby Shield" thanks for bringing it to my attention...
Very Interesting construction, possibly a first..
