Yes, not bad at all.

Actually, it looks freaking awesome.

The costumes and everything are dead-on perfect, looks like it might be one of the most accurate portrayals of the ancient world yet. I'm sure they had to change the plot somewhat so it's actually a cohesive narrative, but I really cannot wait to see this. I've heard the script is unreal, and with Oliver Stone directing and the actors attached to it, I think it's gonna be damn good
That elephant rearing up was great!

looks good, can´t wait to see the movie!
-------------------------------------------------------
Rome did not create a great empire by having meetings -- they did it by killing all those who opposed them.
I would rather have fire storms of atmospheres than this cruel descent from a thousand years of dreams.

AWESOME!
I SO hope this one willset new standards for accuracy in historical movies.. especially about Roman times of course!

We will have to await the movie in November, but even now I think we will be able to judge this one as a good example of how Hollywood could do things. Thanks, Oliver!
I was speaking to someone the other day who said that the producers had a history professor on board to ensure accuracy but .... that he cheekily insisted that he appear in the film.

Apparently he appears several times in such guieses as horseman next to Alexander in gathering for charge scene etc etc

He doesn't get a speaking part but is visible in the near background.

Good on him

The trailer looks good -- one can hope the entire film is as well.

It is interesting that Warner Brothers has been releasing quite a few period films of late, and though they have not all been accurate in terms of history, nor successful in terms of box office, it is commendable that they keep trying. Perhaps they will be the one to release a really good film about Imperial Rome.

The Varus disaster of 9 CE ?

The Jewish Revolt of 70 CE ?

Or pre Rome...

The 300 Spartans ?

Despite what we may think of Gladiator or Troy, their box office take is good enough to encourage the studios and make possible films like Alexander.

Perhaps we will get lucky.
I thought this was amusing:

Quote:
The only other quibble is that the battle scene in the trailer looks more like ill-mannered shoving (with spears) than actual warfare and, with the supremely crafted melees seen in Troy and Return of the King, there's really no excuse for that. It is only a trailer though so we'll cling to hope that some truly spectacular skirmishes are being held back for the film itself.
