(Thread extinction, by the way, was a contributing factor to Sander's departure. I can't begin to express how disheartening it was to the original RAT veterans to have spent such great effort to research detailed posts -- even with notes and references -- and then to watch them start disappearing.)

This is a great tragedy. Especially when the preservation of digital information is such a simple thing... and hard drive memory has dropped so dramatically in price. I am sorry to hear about Sander's leaving, though I knew him not. Perhaps if one (or more) of his former friends here invited him back, he might return?
