Ancient Greek Festival: Re-creating scenes in pottery!
#16
Quote:There's also this relief, one element in which bears a close resemblance to a photocopier! I'm trying to find an image off it, in vain.

Do you have details on the relief... where and when it's from, etc?

No, sorry... I don't have the details at hand but will check with my literature. It was displayed during a lecture at my university, I will have a word with the informed people about it. Smile

Anyways, this relief features a woman folding clothes to be put in a chest.

I have not spent months gathering Hoplites from the four corners of the earth just to let
some Swedish pancake in a purloined panoply lop their lower limbs off!

I've got three, but they're all quite small. I also have a brass graphis.

And a strigil, if anyone fancies a bit of a scrape.

I find this one dating to 490bce fairly interesting.....
It is portraying Danae and the larnax...
Acrisius on the left, the carpenter (what is he doing?) Danae and the nurse holding Perseus.
I noticed the 16 rayed symbols on the front of the larnax is this representive of the Argead line?
I like it anyway.....
