Is this a Family Guy quote? Smile

I have not spent months gathering Hoplites from the four corners of the earth just to let
some Swedish pancake in a purloined panoply lop their lower limbs off!

Hi all & Paul!

The illustration ,you know from osprey The Greek and the Persian Wars 500-323 BC... The bad news there is no specification on color or where he comefrom,etc...., just talk about Hoplites in general wich joined forces to combat the Persian invasion in 490-480 BC... PS I think that is the clue

[/quote]

Ummm Yea... THAT Osprey edition is one of their first and although having some neat photos, the illustrations are, in my opinion, not nearly as well researched or executed as in their latter publications. BIg Time.

On a separate note, I got in touch with Eduardo Guillen, of Athenea Promakos, and he would very much like to come and join us, if he can. Big Grin
He said he's very keen to meet The Hoplite Association, which is a great compliment!

Que bueno indeed - and what a surprise that we hadn't heard of them sooner, nor they of the Festival! It just goes to prove what I wrote some time ago - there may well be people some of you know, who haven't heard my "Gospel" and long to receive it! So keep on evangelising, chaps!
